The family of Rita Anane, a third-year ICT student at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), who was discovered deceased in her hostel on Wednesday morning, is rejecting suggestions of a possible suicide.

They are demanding a more thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Rita was found dead in her room, not far from the campus, with a sponge tied around her neck and connected to her ceiling fan.

However, her relatives have raised doubts about the suicide theory, as her room and the immediate area around her death were orderly, and the sponge used in the alleged suicide had no knot.

The family asserts that Rita showed no signs of depression and always received the support she needed.

It’s been reported that her boyfriend, George, frequently accused her of infidelity and hacked her phone, leading to the end of their relationship.

George visited her hostel around 10 p.m. the night before her death and was the first to report her passing to her landlord.

Eyewitnesses have also mentioned that George, who was initially taken in by the police for questioning, had suspicious nail marks on the back of his hands, raising suspicions that he might have been involved in Rita’s demise.

Rita’s family is placing their hope in the security authorities to conduct a more comprehensive investigation into the matter while seeking comfort in their faith during this difficult time.
