Parliament approves first batch of ministerial nominees from President Mahama

Parliament has approved the first batch of ministerial nominees put forward by President John Dramani Mahama after a comprehensive vetting and debate process.

The approved nominees are Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as Minister for Finance, Dr. Dominic Ayine as Attorney General and Minister for Justice, and John Jinapor as Minister for Energy.

The vetting process, conducted by the Appointments Committee on Monday, January 13, 2025, assessed the nominees’ qualifications, experience, and proposed plans for their respective roles.

Following vetting, the committee submitted its report to Parliament, which sparked a debate on the nominees’ capabilities and their strategies for addressing the country’s pressing issues.

After the deliberations, Members of Parliament cast their votes, ultimately approving the nominees and enabling them to begin their official duties.

This approval represents the first significant step in President Mahama’s efforts to build a capable team to execute his government’s priorities.
