MP-elect for Kwesimintsim, Lawyer Fifi Buckman, pledges to prioritize national interest over party policies

The Member of Parliament-elect for Kwesimintsim Constituency, Lawyer Philip Fifi Buckman, says he won’t support policies that will not benefit the nation.

He said that even though he rode on the wings of his party, he may not support everything he doesn’t see to be of national interest.

In an interview on Beach FM, Lawyer Buckman noted that he is elected as a legislator by his constituents and thus needs to work for them, not his party.

“If we are able to build a good nation as envisaged and propagated by His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama, it’s going to have an effect, or the encumbrances are going, we’re going to have that effect on the people. If I go to parliament, anything that is not in the interest of the nation, count me out. Because the people who voted for the people.

I won’t rebel. The president will hold the sword and swear that he is going to work in the interest of Ghana. So anything that will be against the interest of Ghana and most especially my people, because in the long run, I’ll come back to my people to vote for me. Count me out. ” Lawyer Buckman said.

Lawyer Fifi Buckman highlighted that to achieve his mandate, he would work hand-in-hand with his predecessors to enhance the progress of the constituency.

He said he intends to achieve socio-economic and political development and youth empowerment during his tenure.

“You see, achievements are many. So I’m just thinking about putting them together. Just socioeconomic, political development, and youth empowerment. Well, after taking over our write to him (incumbent) and honourable Joe Mensah. In my capacity as the MP who has taken over from them, to give me whatever they set out to do. As MPs give me sit reps, that is situation reports. Then I’ll take it from there.”
