Chiefs pledges not to entertain illegal mining within their jurisdiction
The National House of Chiefs has declared that its members will not tolerate illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, within their jurisdictions.
The Chiefs have resolved to halt and dismantle any machinery, equipment, or tools used for illegal mining activities.
In a statement signed by the Registrar, Anthony Yeboah Tabiri, the Chiefs committed to collaborating with law enforcement agencies to prosecute all offenders.
Regarding the upcoming elections on December 7, the National House of Chiefs urged Ghanaians to respect the law and called on all citizens to avoid electoral manipulation and violence to protect the integrity of Ghana’s democracy.
The House also encouraged stakeholders to support free, fair, and transparent elections.
