NDC seeks court injunction to stop EC from printing ballot papers in Amenfi Central
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has filed an injunction to prevent the Electoral Commission (EC) from moving forward with the printing of parliamentary ballot papers and the notice of poll for the Amenfi Central constituency.
This legal action follows the disqualification of Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the party’s parliamentary candidate, by the EC. The disqualification was based on an ongoing injunction from the Sekondi High Court, which bars the EC from recognizing Mrs Gyan Cudjoe as the NDC’s candidate due to unresolved legal questions regarding her eligibility.
The NDC claims that the EC’s decision to print ballot materials before resolving the matter would violate the legal process and their candidate’s rights. They are requesting the court to halt the EC’s printing and distribution of ballots for the constituency until Cudjoe’s disqualification is fully resolved.
This development complicates the NDC’s efforts in the Amenfi Central constituency as the December 7 elections draw near.
