Bishop Salifu Amoako and wife arrested over 16-year-old son’s involvment in fatal accident

The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako and his wife, Mouha Amoako, following a fatal accident involving their 16-year-old son, Elrad Salifu Amoako.

The tragic accident, which occurred on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at East Legon, resulted in the deaths of two individuals.

According to the police, Elrad was driving a Jaguar SUV (GN 7801-20) when he collided with a 4×4 Acura vehicle (GR 2542-23) driven by Joseph Ackah, which had four occupants. Both vehicles caught fire upon impact, leaving them burnt beyond recognition.

The arrest of Elrad’s parents is part of an ongoing investigation into the circumstances of the accident, particularly due to the suspect’s age and the gravity of the incident. Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako and his wife, Mouha Amoako, are currently in custody, assisting authorities with inquiries.

In addition, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, led a Police Management Board team to visit the bereaved family and the injured at the hospital. The police assured the public of a thorough investigation to bring closure to the affected families during this difficult time.
