In a tragic incident in Zurich, three children were injured, one seriously, during a knife attack at a daycare center.
According to the city’s police, a 23-year-old Chinese man targeted a group of children being led to the facility by a staff member.
Fortunately, a daycare worker and a bystander were able to subdue the attacker and hold him until law enforcement arrived.
A five-year-old boy sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment in the hospital, while two other five-year-old boys were treated on-site for less severe wounds.
The motive behind the attack, which occurred around noon local time near the Bernina shopping center in Oerlikon, remains unclear.
Police have launched an investigation, and reports indicate that heavily armed officers secured the area while a drone monitored the scene.
Local media outlet NZZ noted that authorities conducted a search of a nearby residential building, although it is uncertain if this was connected to the attack.
