EC reaffirms commitment to credible voters register ahead of December polls
The Electoral Commission (EC) has assured the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other stakeholders of its dedication to delivering a credible and robust voters register.
This response came after the NDC leadership submitted a petition following their “Enough is Enough” protest on Tuesday, September 17.
Samuel Tettey, Deputy Chairman in charge of Operations at the EC, clarified in a signed statement that the process of finalizing the voters register is still at an early stage.
He emphasized that the EC is fully aware that the voters register forms the foundation of fair and transparent elections, reaffirming the commission’s commitment to ensuring a credible register ahead of the December 7 general elections.
The NDC and its regional branches organized the protest, demanding a forensic audit of the voters register due to alleged discrepancies.
The party claims to have uncovered over 243,000 illegal names on the transferred list, calling for a thorough investigation into the matter.
Below is the EC’s response.
