Nigeria: “NAFDAC warns people against purchasing ‘Miracle’ products from televangelist Fufeyin’s church
Nigeria’s drug approval agency, NAFDAC, has issued a warning against purchasing “miracle” products from Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, led by prominent televangelist Jeremiah Fufeyin.
NAFDAC criticized the products, including “miracle water” and “River Jordan water,” for falsely claiming to have healing properties such as curing infertility.
According to NAFDAC, these products lack official approval and the ministry has been non-compliant with the investigation.
The agency began its probe following public complaints about the efficacy and legality of these items.
In response, Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry defended its practices, asserting that they are “law-abiding” and use spiritual items in line with their beliefs.
They claimed to operate within Nigeria’s religious freedom laws and disputed the accusation of non-cooperation with the investigation.
Jeremiah Fufeyin, known for his dramatic claims of performing miracles, has faced scrutiny over his lavish lifestyle and the sale of purportedly miraculous products.
This issue echoes past controversies, such as those involving the late televangelist TB Joshua, who was also criticized for selling products with alleged healing powers while secretly advising his followers to stop their prescribed medications.
