The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has annulled the Amenfi Central parliamentary primary held on May 13, 2023.
According to a statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey, on Thursday, the decision follows ongoing litigation at the Sekondi High Court.
The plaintiffs in the case sought the annulment of the election results and requested a court-ordered rerun. In response, the NDC’s Functional Executive Committee decided at a meeting on September 3, 2024, to nullify the primary results and conduct a fresh election.
Nominations will open on Friday, September 6, 2024, with filing, vetting, and appeals scheduled for Saturday. The rerun of the primary will take place on Sunday, September 8, 2024.
