The former director of the Chinese Football Association’s competition department, Huang Song, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for accepting bribes, according to state broadcaster CCTV.
Huang was also fined 600,000 yuan ($84,000).
In a separate ruling, Gu Jianming, a former executive committee member of the football association and ex-chairman and secretary-general of the Chengdu Football Association, received a six-year prison term and a 400,000 yuan fine for bribery.
The sport in China has struggled with corruption issues, which many fans believe contribute to the national team’s persistent underperformance.
Additionally, the former vice president of the national football association was sentenced to 11 years in prison on bribery charges earlier this week.
