GES launches investigation into assault of female student at Kumasi Academy
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has initiated an investigation into a disturbing incident at Kumasi Academy, where a female student was physically assaulted by her peers.
The incident, which took place on Monday, August 12, has sparked widespread outrage and raised serious concerns about student discipline and safety within the school.
Sampson Anawuni, the Municipal Director of Education, confirmed that the GES has established a committee to investigate the incident and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
He emphasized that the incident represents a severe abuse of a girl-child and underscored the need for swift and decisive action to address the issue.
The assault occurred after a group of students accused the female student of engaging in a sexual act and proceeded to physically manhandle her across the school compound.
A video of the incident has circulated on social media, prompting strong reactions from parents and the general public, who are demanding immediate action.
The GES has assured the public that it will take all necessary steps to ensure the safety and well-being of students at Kumasi Academy.
In addition, the Ghana Police Service has launched its own investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.
