Ghanaians Urged To Pay Attention to Mental Health Dysmorphic

A Nursing Officer at the Psychiatric Department of the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, Gloria Mensah is warning Ghanaians about a mental health condition which poses serious challenges to individuals.

Speaking in an interview, Mrs Mensah said , body Dismorphic disorders can be caused by childhood abuse genetical disposition, social pressure and mental ailments like anxiety and depression.

According to her, some people go through this disorder experience due to their appearance.

Mrs Mensah reveals that most ladies go through body enhancement to look attractive to the public as a result of what they learn from social media.

According to her, some ladies go through tummy tuck, surgery, butt lift surgery and bleach their skin to look desirable to men.

She speaks about the negative effect such actions may have on individuals.

She further mentions that her outfit encounters several challenges in creating awareness about body dismorphic disorder.

She said Africans are not particular about their mental health, as they wait to get a mental breakdown before rushing to the facility for help.

She’s encouraging people to accept themselves for who they are.
