John Mahama vows to ensure full accountability in government if elected

National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama has pledged that his administration will be fully transparent and open to public scrutiny if elected in the upcoming elections.

Speaking at a town hall meeting on Monday, August 12, Mahama highlighted the critical role of accountability in public service.

He stressed that individuals holding government positions are there to serve the nation and must be ready to justify their actions.

Mahama underscored the need for public officeholders to be held accountable if they misuse their positions, emphasizing that those seeking personal enrichment should pursue opportunities in the private sector rather than in government.

He advised that if people want to come into government and make money, they should look to the private sector instead.

The NDC flagbearer suggested that such individuals could set up a cassava processing plant, employ young people, but avoid taking public office.

Acknowledging the difficulties of prosecuting members of his own party or government, Mahama reiterated the importance of maintaining integrity and fighting corruption, regardless of political affiliation.
