President Akufo-Addo Announces New Ambassador-at-Large and Ambassadorial Appointments
Ghana’s President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has appointed a new Ambassador-at-Large, adding to the recent appointment of his Executive Secretary, Nana Bediatuo Asante, to the same role two months ago.
On June 24, 2024, President Akufo-Addo announced Nana Bediatuo Asante’s appointment as Ambassador-at-Large during a ceremony at the Jubilee House. Asante, who has been the President’s Executive Secretary since 2017, was honored with this new position.
The latest addition to the Ambassador-at-Large role is Mr. Fawaz Aliu, the Deputy Chief of Staff at the Office of the President. According to President Akufo-Addo, Mr. Aliu will maintain his current role while taking on the new position.
Furthermore, the President has announced two additional ambassadorial appointments: Major General Charles Kojo Abedi Awity as Ghana’s Ambassador to Serbia and Mr. Peprah Ampratwum as Ambassador in situ. This role involves a continuous presence and active participation in key events and decision-making.
The new appointments were revealed at a ceremony on August 7 at the Jubilee House. President Akufo-Addo expressed confidence in the appointees’ ability to enhance Ghana’s diplomatic relations and connect the country with investment opportunities. Major General Abedi pledged to represent Ghana with distinction.
