President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo says the newly inaugurated GNPC headquarters in Takoradi is not just a symbolic gesture but a practical step designed to bring GNPC’s operations closer to the core of the petroleum industry, thereby boosting efficiency.
According to the President, the establishment of the 7-storey GNPC headquarters sitting on a plot area of 11, 680 square metres will have an effect on the local economy thereby creating direct and indirect job opportunities for the locals.
He underscored the contributions of the Western region to national revenue.
” This new headquarters is strategically positioned to serve as a hub for GNPC’s operations particularly in the Western region, which remains the epicentre of Ghana’s oil and gas industry.
By situating this important facility here in Takoradi, we acknowledge and honour the considerable contribution of the Western Region to our national economy,” President Akuffo Addo said.
This is not merely a symbolic gesture. It is a practical move aimed at bringing the operations of GNPC closer to the heart of the petroleum industry, thereby enhancing efficiency in fostering closer collaboration with domestic stakeholders. The establishment of this headquarters will have multiple effects on the local economy and create direct and indirect job opportunities for the people of Takoradi and its environs,”
Additionally, the increased economic activity resulting from the operations of this headquarters will stimulate domestic businesses,” He added.
The Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah, was optimistic that the headquarters will make the region a backbone of Ghana’s economy.
He posits that GNPC continues to support the people of the Western region in areas of employment.
He stated, ” We, therefore, expect that when it comes to employment, our people will send their letters here, and get the jobs here.”
