Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, the founder and leader of the Movement for Change (M4C), has announced his intention to abolish the Council of State if elected president.
This announcement was made during the launch of the party’s manifesto, The Great Transformational Plan (GTP), on Monday, June 24.
Kyerematen stated that the Council of State would be replaced with a new Second Chamber of Parliament. This chamber would include representatives from key stakeholder groups such as faith-based organizations, traditional authorities, professional bodies, gender-based organizations, the private sector, labour unions, and people with disabilities.
“This is what we call an all-inclusive government and national unity, and that is going to happen,” Kyerematen declared.
Criticizing the two major political parties, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alan Kyerematen argued that both have exhausted their competencies and capabilities. He noted that these parties have governed for the past 32 years without presenting viable future plans, leading to extensive borrowing to finance their manifesto promises.
With the GTP, Mr Kyerematen aims to build a prosperous, united, and peaceful Ghana that provides equal opportunities for all, especially young people, women, and vulnerable groups. He is urging Ghanaians to move away from the NPP and NDC and support the M4C as a new political force.
Alan Kyerematen emphasized that the current culture of unrestrained borrowing by the leading parties has significantly contributed to the country’s economic challenges.
