Richard Ahiagbah, Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has asserted that the party’s flagbearer, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, will stabilize the Ghanaian cedi using the nation’s gold reserves.
Speaking to journalists in Kumasi on Monday, June 24, Richard Ahiagbah emphasized that a future NPP government under Dr Bawumia’s leadership will strengthen the cedi, eliminating its depreciation.
“Be bold with Bawumia. He will use our gold to back the cedi to make it stable. This is a bold solution to stabilize the cedi. Depreciation will be a thing of the past because the cedi will be sufficiently stable under Bawumia,” Ahiagbah declared.
He also challenged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to present their strategy for stabilizing the cedi, urging them to reveal their measures for addressing the currency’s depreciation.
