WN/R: Fix our roads or we vote against you – Residents of Papasi to the government
Some aggrieved residents of Papasi in the Bia West of the Western North region have appealed to the government over the deplorable nature of their roads.
Despite the district’s contribution to cocoa and food crop production, they are shocked by the state roads in the area.
According to residents, the majority of the roads in the district have become a challenge for farmers, traders, students, and teachers, with no effort made to fix them.
They have therefore vowed to vote against the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) come December 7, if their roads are not constructed.
“We feel betrayed over how the past and current governments have refused to construct our roads for us. This is very disheartening because, this is the district and perhaps community that produces the highest cocoa for Ghana. Most of us here are farmers, but due to the nature of the roads, we cannot go to our farms. We are pleading with the central government to immediately address our situation since the DCE has refused to heed our calls,” they stated.
They further added, “We won’t take it lightly at all. We shall vote against the NPP government if they remain adamant about our calls.”
Meanwhile, several assembly members who spoke on anonymity expressed concerns over the poorest nature of the road network in the area and called on the government to head to their call.
