Committee submits report on leaked audio discussing plot to remove IGP
The ad hoc committee established by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, to investigate the leaked audio concerning an alleged plot to remove Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has presented its report to Parliament.
Chaired by Abuakwa South MP Samuel Atta Akyea, the committee was assigned to examine the leaked audio in which senior police officers were heard discussing the removal of the IGP with former Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bugri Naabu.
The officers in the recording suggested that the IGP was too professional and could not be easily compromised.
The committee’s report was officially submitted to Parliament on Tuesday, June 18. The Clerk of Parliament announced the presentation, stating that the “Report of the Special Committee of Inquiry into the contents of a leaked audio tape of a high-ranking police officer and others in an alleged conspiracy to remove the current Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare and related matters has been duly presented,” the Clerk of Parliament announced.
This development follows the committee’s thorough investigation into the serious allegations raised by the leaked audio, aiming to ensure transparency and accountability within the police service.
