South African rapper Shebeshxt mourns daughter’s death after car crash
South African rapper Shebeshxt is grieving the loss of his nine-year-old daughter following a tragic car accident.
In a heartfelt post on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Monday, the rapper expressed, “My life will never be the same without your presence.”
The accident occurred as Shebeshxt was en route to perform at the African National Congress (ANC) Siyanqoba Rally celebration concert in Limpopo province on Saturday.
The car collided with a heavy motor vehicle, resulting in the death of his daughter and severe injuries to Shebeshxt, whose real name is Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke.
He also revealed the loss of his foot in the crash, sharing, “My heart is so so broken… I’m trying to adjust [to] the accident that left me in trauma and so many tears.”
The music community and fans have been offering condolences and prayers to Shebeshxt during this difficult time.
Limpopo Artists Movement (LAM) issued a statement expressing solidarity and support for the grieving rapper and his family.
Videos of the crash, including one showing Shebeshxt being attended to by paramedics, have circulated online.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation, as confirmed by Tidimalo Chuene, the spokesperson for the transport department in Limpopo.
This tragic event marks Shebeshxt’s second car accident this year, with the previous incident occurring in January.
Despite his rising popularity in the music industry, fueled by his hit song “Ke Di Shxt Malume,” Shebeshxt has also faced controversy, notably with a video of him brandishing a gun during a performance that went viral earlier this year.
