World Cup 2026 Qualifiers: Andre Ayew dropped from Ghana squad
Black Stars captain Andre Ayew has been omitted from Ghana’s squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic.
Ayew had a solid season with French Ligue 1 side Le Havre, scoring 6 goals in 19 appearances to help them stay in the league.
However, this performance was not enough to secure his spot in the national team for the crucial doubleheader.
Recently, Ayew expressed his commitment to improving the team’s performance, which has seen Ghana eliminated in the group stages of consecutive AFCON tournaments.
Ghana is set to face Mali on June 6th, followed by a match against the Central African Republic on June 10th. In Group I, Ghana has so far recorded a win against Madagascar and a loss to Comoros.
