NDC questions the transfer of Effutu’s Electoral Commissioner
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Effutu has expressed concerns over the sudden transfer of the constituency’s Electoral Commissioner, Madam Emelia Ama Akotiah, just days before the end of the limited registration exercise. The NDC suspects possible manipulation behind this move.
At a press conference, Effutu’s NDC parliamentary candidate, James Kofi Annan, noted that while the Commissioner’s performance has been questioned due to alleged voter manipulation in the 2020 elections, her transfer appears to be motivated by her efforts to correct these issues and prevent future occurrences ahead of the December 7 polls.
Annan questioned the timing of the transfer, highlighting the critical period during the ongoing registration exercise.
He argued that if the administrative change was necessary, it should have been made before the registration began, during decision-making meetings.
Annan noted that the transfer letter arrived over the weekend, with the Commissioner set to leave for Ho this week, which raises doubts about the Electoral Commission’s intentions.
He also mentioned reports of her altercation with members of the NPP’s leadership.
