Mpohor District Assembly Commits to Sustaining Progress Following High Ranking in Local Governance Index
The District Chief Executive for the Mpohor District Assembly, Mr. Ignatius Asaah Mensah, says the Assembly will not rest on its oars, but maintain the success chalked out in the recent 2023 Local Governance Index conducted by the Institute of Local Government Studies.
Mr. Asaah Mensah, in an interview on Spice FM, said that despite some challenges faced in the district, the Assembly is doing its best to work with every member of the community to elevate the district.
He believes this feat could woo investors into the district to improve the local economy.
He said that his 7-year tenure in office has allowed him to work with all manner of people.
Infrastructure development, such as the road network, Mr. Asaah Mensah said, has been a major transporter of people and goods across the district town.
The Mpohor District of the Western Region emerged as the best district in the 2023 District Level Performance Assessment and Ranking with a score of 82.6 percent.
A report issued by the Institute of Local Government Studies (ILGS) said other equally performing districts on the top chart were Dormaa West, Akyemansa, and Kwahu East districts and the Cape Coast Metropolis.
The Institute of Local Government is a public management development and training institution established in 2003 by Parliamentary Act 647 to build capacity for effective local governance through education and training, research, consultancy, and advisory services.
