A suspect nicknamed “El Kekas” has allegedly admitted to killing three tourists on a surfing trip in Mexico, according to a court hearing.

The victims, Australian brothers Jake and Callum Robinson, and their American friend Jack Carter Rhoad, vanished near Ensenada on April 27th.

“El Kekas” currently faces kidnapping charges, but murder charges are expected soon.

Authorities believe the men, all in their early 30s, were shot while defending their truck from being stripped of its tires.

Their bodies were found in a well just six days later, each with a fatal gunshot wound.

A key piece of evidence comes from the suspect’s girlfriend, Ari Gisel.

Though not charged in the disappearances, prosecutors named her as a witness.

During the hearing, the court learned that Ari told investigators “El Kekas” arrived at her home on April 28th, confessing to doing something to “three gringos.”

When she pressed for clarification, he reportedly stated, “I killed them.”

Prosecutors further allege “El Kekas” then showed Ari new tires on her car, believed to be stolen from the slain surfers.

This tragic incident has sparked outrage and fear in Baja California, a state notorious for drug cartel violence.

Ensenada, the area where the tourists vanished, is generally considered safe for visitors due to its proximity to the US border and its popularity among Californian surfers.

However, this crime has shattered that perception.

Dozens of protestors marched through the city on Sunday, carrying surfboards emblazoned with demands for safer beaches.

Additionally, a group of surfers held a “paddle-out” ceremony, a water-based vigil to honor the deceased.

Debra Robinson, mother of the Robinson brothers, expressed her grief in a public statement: “Now it’s time to bring them home to family and friends and the ocean waves in Australia.”
