Miss Teen USA steps down days after Miss USA’s departure
Two Miss USA titleholders have resigned within days of each other, raising questions about the organization’s direction and treatment of contestants.
Miss Teen USA UmaSofia Srivastava announced her departure on Instagram, stating that “after months of grappling with this decision,” her “personal values no longer fully align with the direction of the organisation.”
This follows Miss USA Noelia Voigt’s resignation earlier this week, where she emphasized prioritizing “mental health” and using one’s voice.
Notably, fans observed a hidden message in her statement, with the first letter of each sentence spelling “I AM SILENCED.”
The Miss Teen USA organization confirmed UmaSofia’s resignation and expressed support for her decision. They are expected to announce a successor soon.
These resignations come amidst controversy surrounding the Miss USA organization.
Just days before Noelia’s departure, Miss USA’s social media director, Claudia Michelle, also left, alleging “workplace toxicity and bullying” and advocating for contestants to be heard.
Miss USA refuted these claims, stating their commitment to a positive work environment.
The organization has faced past controversies, including allegations of contest rigging (denied) and sexual harassment by a former vice-president (who resigned).
These recent departures suggest lingering issues within Miss USA.
