The Electoral Commission (EC) is hopeful about exceeding its target of registering 623,000 new voters in the upcoming limited registration period.

Starting from May 7 to May 27, 2024, the registration drive aims to sign up people who turned 18 since the last registration.

The EC plans to conduct registrations in its district offices and remote areas to ensure everyone can participate.

Jean Mensa, the Chairperson of the EC, assured that all registration centers are set, and political parties are briefed about the process. She noted that all details, including center locations and operational plans, are available on the EC’s website.

She mentioned that the EC have officially designated all centers and shared our plans with political parties as required by law. They can now organize and monitor the process.

Also, she is confident their efforts will make registration easier.

She added that last year, the EC aimed for 700,000 new voters and got 910,000 and believe they will surpass the 623,000 goal this time.
