Damaged ECG pylons disrupt power supply to 9 Shama communities

The Western Regional Electricity Company (ECG) has reassured residents that efforts are underway to reinstate power supply to nine communities near Shama and Daboase.

This outage, which began on Tuesday, April 23, was caused by the collapse of three pylons due to a severe rainstorm.

During an assessment of repair progress at Essipon, Engineer Martin Djan, the Sekondi District Manager of ECG, conveyed the company’s commitment to resolving the situation promptly.

He urged affected customers to remain patient, assuring them that restoration efforts were underway, with engineers diligently working on the task.

“Yesterday we had a severe challenge that had to do with the breaking down of three of our out pylons on the Ketan BSP stretch up to Inchaban sub-station because of heavy downpour. We have more of our communities down at the moment without power…Currently, we are doing our maximum best to restore power, so what I have done is to contract three of my best contractors who are currently on site,” Engineer Djan explained.

“We have planned that within 24 hours we should be able to bring back the power so that our customers can enjoy power,” he added.

The communities impacted by the outage include Inchaban, Shama, Nyankrom, Komfueku, Dwomo, Daboase, Beposo, Sekyere Krobo, Anlo Beach, and neighboring areas.
