President Akufo-Addo criticizes under-utilization of national service personnel

During the launch of the National Service Policy Document, President Akufo-Addo expressed concern over what he described as the inefficient use of national service personnel within government institutions.

He emphasized that the government has made significant investments in the National Service Scheme and expects tangible outcomes from this investment.

To address these issues, the President unveiled plans to regulate deployment procedures and enhance learning opportunities for national service personnel.

He highlighted key initiatives outlined in the policy document aimed at improving the National Service Scheme.

President Akufo-Addo mentioned the introduction of pedagogy training in collaboration with the National Teaching Council to revamp teaching and learning methods, especially to address the pupil-teacher ratio.

Additionally, the policy document will implement an MSME accounting program to formalize the informal sector and establish specialized partnerships to boost tourism through NSS support programs.

Furthermore, the President outlined plans to expand experimental agricultural programs under the Sekyere Kumawu economy enclave with financial backing from the Ministry of Finance’s Ghana Care Obaatanpa Program and Agri-Impact Ghana.

He also announced the implementation of a metric application system to enhance efficiency and reduce wastage.

ICT hubs will be established to provide IT training tailored to community needs, reinforcing the President’s vision to leverage trained service personnel for meaningful community contributions.

He called for support from all stakeholders to achieve the scheme’s objectives, expressing confidence that these reforms will position the National Service Scheme as a leader in West Africa and the broader African region.

President Akufo-Addo concluded by stating his belief that the new policy implementation will empower youth, shape the nation’s future, and maximize the potential of the National Service Scheme.
