In a heartbreaking incident, a Nigerian father is grieving the loss of his three little daughters who were killed in a car crash on Saturday.

The girls, aged 10, eight, and six, were filled with joy as they left home during the Eid festive season, as shared by Abu Uwais.

“They were wearing the new clothes and shoes I bought for them, and they were so happy to go out,” he recounted.

The driver responsible has been apprehended and is set to face charges for reckless driving following the fatal accident in Toto, Nasarawa state.

The vehicle was set ablaze by an angered crowd at the accident site.

Mr. Uwais expressed the profound loss he and his wife, Fatima, are experiencing as they mourn their only children.

The girls had just visited their uncle’s home and were outside when the speeding driver struck them after colliding with two electric poles.

Recounting the tragic moment, Mr. Uwais said he received a call at home instructing him to rush to the hospital, where he was devastated upon learning of the accident.

Ten-year-old Nusaiba passed away in the hospital, while eight-year-old Rumasa’u and six-year-old Nana Maryam died at the scene.

Nusaiba was described as one of the brightest students in her class, with her younger sisters also excelling academically.

“Their school sent a delegation to our house to console us over what has happened,” Mr. Uwais added.

The incident underscores the pressing issue of road safety in Nigeria, with over 1,300 fatalities reported from road accidents in the last quarter of 2023, according to official statistics.
