THE WESTERN NAVAL COMMAND SHOWCASES AN IMPRESSIVE “SEA LION EXERCISE”, DEMONSTRATING MASTERY IN CONQUERING ADVERSARIES THROUGH STRATEGIC MANEUVERS.

The Western Naval Command in Ghana has carried out the “Exercise Sea Lion 2024” to test the combat readiness and endurance of Ghana Navy ships, as well as to enhance maritime security and the Crossing the Line naval tradition.

The exercise involved an infantry platoon, selected Ghana Navy ships, and aircraft from the Ghana Airforce.

The ships conducted maneuvers and beach landings of troops, among other activities.

The exercise was a valuable opportunity for training in ocean navigation, internal security operations, and amphibious landings. The exercise also included a daring attack to rescue an individual, demonstrating the commitment of the navies to protecting lives and upholding justice.

Passengers who crossed the equator were initiated by King Neptune and received certificates and badges as able-bodied seamen, joining the league of sailors who achieved this feat.

Dignitaries such as the Chief of Naval Staff, Flag House Officer, Director General of Training, and others were present at the exercise.

In his opening remarks, Brigadier General Isaac Painstil, Commander of the Army Special Operations Brigade, congratulated the naval personnel who participated in the Sea Lion exercise and motivated them for future challenges.

In his closing remarks, Rear Admiral Issah Adams Yakubu, the Chief of Naval Staff, expressed his congratulations and gratitude to all the participants.

He highlighted the significance of the exercise in showcasing the skills and capabilities of the naval forces. He stated that the “Sea Lion Exercise” demonstrated the commitment and readiness of the naval forces to protect Ghana’s waters and ensure the safety of the nation.
