Parliament adjourns session to March 8 following John Kumah’s passing

Today’s parliamentary session has been adjourned to Friday, March 8, following the unfortunate passing of John Kumah, the Member of Parliament for Ejisu.

Sources close to the family have confirmed that the 45-year-old MP, who also served as the Deputy Finance Minister, passed away after a brief illness.

Expressing sorrow over the loss, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minority Leader, conveyed his shock at the news and mentioned that a comprehensive statement would be issued later.

John Kumah, survived by his wife and six children, was highly regarded by his constituents in Ejisu, Ashanti Region, Ghana, for his integrity and commitment to job creation, instilling hope for the future among all age groups.

Commonly known as Lawyer John Kumah, he founded Majak Associates Ltd, a construction firm, and later established Aduaprokye Chambers upon becoming a lawyer.

His leadership at the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) witnessed the training of 45,000 startups and the creation of numerous jobs for youth across the country.

Recognized for his efficiency and humility, John Kumah was lauded as one of President Akufo Addo’s most respectful appointees.

As a dedicated member of the NPP, he actively contributed to the party’s grassroots activities since 1992, and he played a pivotal role in various youth political initiatives within the party.

In fulfilling his promises to his constituents, John Kumah successfully secured significant funding for infrastructure and job creation projects in Ejisu.
