Snoop Dogg and Master P sue Walmart over alleged sabotage of cereal brand
American rappers Snoop Dogg and Master P have filed a lawsuit against retail giant Walmart and food manufacturer Post Consumer Brands, alleging sabotage of their cereal brand.
The lawsuit, filed on Tuesday, accuses Walmart and Post Consumer Brands of concealing Snoop Cereal boxes and falsely claiming it was out of stock.
Lawyer Benjamin Crump described it as a “blatant disregard” for a black-owned business.
Both companies cited low sales of the product in their statements.
Walmart stated it has a “strong history of supporting entrepreneurs” and noted various factors affecting sales, while Post expressed disappointment in consumer demand not meeting expectations.
Snoop Dogg and Master P established their food company, Broadus Foods, in 2022, producing breakfast cereals, pancake mix, maple syrup, and more.
According to the complaint, Post allegedly attempted to undermine Broadus Foods after the rappers declined to sell their company, instead agreeing to a partnership where Post would manufacture and distribute the products.
Crump posted a video online, claiming Walmart kept the cereal hidden in storerooms rather than on store shelves, leading to significant costs for Broadus Foods.
The lawsuit alleges that Walmart and Post Consumer Brands collaborated to prevent Snoop Cereal from reaching consumers, aiming to eliminate any profit for Broadus Foods.
Master P shared a video on Instagram purportedly showing several Walmart stores not stocking the product, with employees confirming it’s out of stock before finding unopened shipments in the storeroom.
Post Consumer Brands stated it was excited to partner with Broadus Foods and had made substantial investments, while Walmart stated it would respond appropriately to the court once it reviewed the full complaint.
