Ghana has received an invitation to participate in the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula, a comprehensive ten-point plan aimed at resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during a meeting with Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the 2024 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, emphasized the crucial role of Ghana in the peace process.

The Ukrainian government has been actively seeking global support for the peace plan, addressing key areas such as food and energy security, territorial integrity, environmental safety, release of prisoners, and the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine, with a focus on preventing future aggression.

Ghana, known for its peace and political stability in the sub-region, has established strong bilateral ties with the conflicting nations, particularly in education, science, and technology.

The leaders discussed ways to strengthen relations between Ukraine and Ghana, along with other African countries. The meeting also addressed the education of Ghanaian students in Ukrainian higher education institutions and explored the potential for creating logistics hubs to facilitate the trans-shipment of Ukrainian agricultural products to African nations.

President Zelenskyy commended Ghana for its support in upholding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine on the international stage.

Both Russia and Ukraine, being major commodities producers, have contributed to global price increases, especially in oil, natural gas, and food, impacting economies worldwide.

President Zelenskyy, in his address at the World Economic Forum, urged the global community to stand united in supporting Ukraine against ongoing Russian aggression. He announced plans for a global summit advocating for peace, with hopes of holding it in Switzerland.

Meanwhile, President Nana Akufo-Addo led Ghana’s delegation at the forum, engaging in discussions on key themes such as achieving security and cooperation, fostering growth and job creation, harnessing artificial intelligence for economic and societal progress, and developing a long-term strategy for climate, nature, and energy.
