Ukrainian drone strikes Russian oil depot in unprecedented attack
A massive fire has erupted at a southern Russian oil storage depot, reportedly triggered by a Ukrainian drone, with four oil tanks ablaze and the flames spreading across a 1,000 sq m area.
According to Russian authorities in the Bryansk region, the drone was intercepted near Klintsy, causing its explosives to fall onto the oil facility.
Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries.
The Bryansk governor confirmed the incident, stating, “Yes, last night we hit the target. This thing crossed 1,250km (776 miles) last night.”
This marks the second drone strike on Russian oil facilities in two days, following an unprecedented attack on a major oil loading terminal in St Petersburg.
Russian reports suggested the drone was successfully shot down without causing damage, but Ukrainian sources indicated that this attack, occurring far from the border, signifies a new phase in strategy.
