The Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party in the Western Region, Issah Fuseini, says that it is warming to witness more young people in the party willing to serve.
Mr. Fuseini, speaking to Arafat Musah, host of the Western Echo Show, mentions that young people are not hindered by the amount of money charged to contest for a seat.
According to him, it serves as a motivation for other young people to emulate to help promote development in their communities.
“It is not disappointing; it should be exciting news. At this particular moment, if you have a political party, people are trooping in to pick up forms, no matter the amount they are going to contribute to support the party or the amount to pay as a filing fee, and they are not afraid but putting themselves before the party.
You realise that they have confidence in the party. The exciting part is that the youth are purchasing more seats than the elderly. That should be the motivating factor,” He said.
Mr. Fusieni Isaah observes that the low participation of women contesting as Members of Parliament stems from the fact that most of these women are not financially sound.
He also adds that women shy away from indulging in politics because of unpleasant utterances from their male counterparts.
