W/R: Meteorological Agency Bemoans Inadequate Working Tools

The Ghana Meteorological Agency, GMA, in Takoradi says it lacks basic equipment to function.

Speaking on Spice FM, Mr Williams Nyarkoh, a meteorologist with the GMA, bemoans how the lack of equipment hinders its duties in the Metropolis and beyond.

According to him, the agency has only one internet modem connected to a single desktop that enables them to share weather reports with Central, Western North, and Western regions.

In this situation, Mr. Nyarko stated, it puts the agency under pressure.

Apart from this, the GMA does not have a standby generator and is forced to halt its duties anytime there is a power outage.

Mr. Nyarkoh while educating the public on safety precautions during the harmattan season, urged individuals to frequently drink more water to stay hydrated and moisturize their skin to prevent it from cracking

He, however, is appealing to benevolent Ghanaians to support the agency in its quest to serve the people in the Central, Western, and Western North regions.

“In the whole office of the Ghana Metoe in Takoradi, we have only one modem, which is connected to a single desktop. We are forced to hotspot our laptops with internet to work with.

Another problem is that there is no standby generator, so in the case of any outage, we have no option but to wait and get connected back to the grid,” he said.
