Sam George threatens to expose Majority members hindering Anti-Gay Bill

Sam George

Sam George, the primary advocate for the Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, commonly known as the Anti-Gay Bill, has issued a warning to expose members of the Majority Caucus allegedly impeding the bill’s progress.

He claims that certain Majority MPs have succumbed to influence from individuals supporting LGBTQ activities, obstructing the bill’s passage.

Addressing reporters in Parliament, Samuel Nartey George, also the MP for Ningo-Prampram, stated that the bill’s proponents won’t tolerate efforts by the Majority caucus to undermine it.

He urged those influenced by pro-LGBTQ interests to relinquish their influence, threatening to reveal names if the frustrating behavior persists.

Despite being urged by co-sponsors not to disclose names, he emphasized that further obstruction would force him to do so.

George emphasized that this bill, introduced in 2021, wouldn’t tolerate delays any longer. He urged Ghanaians, including the Christian, Muslim, African Traditional communities, and the National House of Chiefs supporting the bill, to take note of actions slowing down its progress.

However, the Chairman of the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee, Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi, dismissed Sam George’s allegations.

He clarified that leadership hadn’t directed him to proceed with considering the bill and pointed out that other bills, such as the Intestate Succession Bill, were also pending consideration. Anyimadu-Antwi explained that given the workload, it was impractical to begin the amendments immediately.
