Western Regional Communication Director of the New Patriotic Party, Issah Fuseini says, the NPP voted for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the flagbearer of the party, on the grounds that he is able to win convincingly win power for the party.
According to him, Dr. Bawumia hailing from the northern part of the country is a strategy for the party to retain power, thus fulfilling the popular mantra of breaking the 8.
Mr Fuseini mentioned on the Western Echo Show that choosing good candidates for elections is key.
” If you don’t choose a good candidate forget about the 2024 elections. We went to various constituencies to talk to them about the kind of candidate we wanted.
Every election you have to go to will be based on the strategies you map. Elections are not won by the words you mention or won by the platform on which you stand to speak. It’s won through a very good strategy.
The party has a strategy for Dr Bawumia coming from the northern region. So if we are able to present him in 2024, we believe that we will have it easy,” he said.
Mr. Fusieni also debunked claims that some delegates were wooed with vehicles and amounts of money to vote for Dr Bawumia to become the flagbearer.
He, however, commended Kennedy Agyapong for accepting the results of the November 4 elections and offering to support Dr. Bawumia, the party’s flagbearer to break the 8 in 2024.
” That is how a patriotic member should behave. Any patriotic member of the party that believes in the red, blue, and white speaks like that. It’s a contest that he (Hon Ken) has gone through. Fortunately or unfortunately he didn’t win. The most important thing is for the party to retain power in 2024,”
