The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, is set to appear before Parliament today, Wednesday, November 8, 2023, to provide the House with an update on the recently concluded limited voter registration exercise.
During the limited voter registration exercise, which started on September 12, 2023, the EC registered over 600,000 new voters.
The Minority in Parliament had previously expressed concerns about the EC’s decision to confine the exercise to its district offices, claiming that it had imposed a financial burden on Members of Parliament.
In a parliamentary statement last week, the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, announced that the EC chair would attend a closed sitting on Wednesday to brief members on the limited voter registration exercise and related matters.
The voter register exhibition exercise concluded on November 7, 2023, following its commencement on November 3.
