Paramount Chief of Gwira Unhappy About Inadequate Police Personnel At Dominase

The Paramount Chief and President of Gwira Traditional Council, Awulae Angama Tu-Agyan II says there are only three Police personnel at the Dominase area.

This, situation he said does not augur well for the workforce who are to provide security to the communities in the area.

He made this appeal when ACPOL Isaac Sorkpah paid a courtesy call on chiefs and elders in the Traditional Council.

Awulae Angama II addressing the ACPOL and his entourage laments about the police unit being understaffed which hinders the work of the police force and called for more Police Officers to be deployed to the area.

“There are inadequate police officers stationed at the unit, and they are only three. The number of Police stations in the Municipality is inadequate considering the size of the Municipality.

We are helping the government to fight galamsey, but the Police fail to give us feedback when these galamseyers are arrested.

People may think the chiefs are behind these galamseyers but that’s not the case. We are doing our best as chiefs,” Awulae mentioned.

On his part, ACPOL Isaac Sorkpah urged chiefs to help maintain peace and security which brings about development.

He added that the doors of the Police are open to working with traditional leaders to sustain peace in traditional areas.

” I plead with the chiefs here to make peace their number one priority. The Police are here to serve the chiefs and the people of their community, and we will continue to collaborate with the chiefs to promote peace and security.

No community can see progress when there is no peace and security. Our duty as a Police force is to promote peace and order. Every individual also has a role to play in ensuring that peace prevails always,” He said.
