Abducted SA Pentecost deacon freed

During a church service on Sunday, October 29, 2023, in Johannesburg, members of the Ghanaian Church of Pentecost were victims of an armed robbery, and one of the church’s deacons was abducted.

The High Commission of Ghana in Pretoria, South Africa, provided assurances of collaborating with the Church of Pentecost and the South African Police Service (SAPS) to facilitate the swift and safe release and return of the abducted deacon.

Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Charles Owiredu, shared a positive development in a Twitter post on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, stating, “The Church of Pentecost Deacon/Elder was freed last night. He is with his family now,” confirming the safe release of the kidnapped Church of Pentecost Deacon in Johannesburg.

The news of the deacon’s release has brought relief to the Ghanaian community in South Africa and concerned individuals.
