PRESEC secures its 8th NSMQ championship, emerging victorious in the 2023 competition

Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School (PRESEC) clinched their eighth victory in the 2023 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), securing 40 points.

Achimota School came second with 28 points, and Opoku Ware School took third place with 23 points.

PRESEC received a prize of GH¢70,000, Achimota School was awarded GH¢50,000, and Opoku Ware received GH¢35,000.

PRESEC is the only school to have won the title consecutively twice and holds the record with eight victories.

Exceptional students and teams were also recognized with special prizes throughout the competition. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Minister of Education, praised Primetime Limited for maintaining the competition for thirty years, emphasizing its role in preparing young minds for the government’s STEM agenda.

Nana Akua Mensa-Bonsu, Managing Director of Primetime Limited, revealed plans to establish an All Africa Science and Maths Quiz involving all African countries by 2025, aligning with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) initiative.

The NSMQ competition is celebrating its 30th anniversary, having begun in 1993.
