Cecilia Dapaah alleges that the OSP disrespected the court regarding the CJ petition
Cecilia Dapaah’s legal team has accused the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) of showing disrespect to the court by the way they handled the petition to have Justice Edward Twum removed.
On Thursday, lawyers from the OSP were absent in court, where they were expected to make an application for confirming seizure and freezing orders, as well as begin the process for the charges against Cecilia Dapaah for failing to declare her assets.
This unexpected absence led to the court adjourning the proceedings until a later date, pending the Chief Justice’s response to the request to remove Justice Edward Twum from the case.
Cecilia Dapaah’s lawyers were visibly disappointed by the OSP’s actions, describing the petition as an apparent attempt to frustrate the court’s hearing and avoid their own application.
The court also couldn’t hear the case in which the former sanitation minister is charged with failing to declare her assets due to the absence of the OSP’s lawyers from court.
Cecilia Dapaah’s legal team also expressed concerns about the behavior of the OSP’s lawyers, suggesting that their actions were not in line with proper court procedures.
Victoria Barth, one of Dapaah’s lawyers, emphasized the importance of treating the court with respect and fairness, adding that the OSP should not be exempt from following the law.
The OSP has explained on X, a social media platform, that their petition aimed to have Justice Edward Twum removed from all pending cases involving the OSP.
They claimed that Justice Edward Twum was biased against the OSP and its Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyabeng.
