The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is urging a prompt prosecution of the 16 New Patriotic Party (NPP) members who disrupted a live program at UTV on Saturday, October 7, 2023.
The arrests came following a complaint by the Despite Media Group and the Ministry of Information about the invasion of UTV’s studio.
Amos Blessing Amorse, the NDC’s Greater Accra deputy youth organizer, called on the Regional Police Command to provide updates on the arrests and the measures taken to apprehend the other suspects who escaped arrest on that day.
He pointed out a similar incident in May 2023 where a former NDC communicator was arrested and convicted for assaulting a presenter at Dagbon FM in the Northern Region, stressing the need for the police to handle the UTV studio invaders with the same urgency.
