Mexico

Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton has revealed the 23-man squad for the upcoming international friendly matches against Mexico and the United States of America.

Tariq Lamptey, the Brighton and Hove Albion right-back, returns to the squad after recovering from an injury that kept him out of the previous international break. Lamptey has regained his fitness and has been playing minutes for his club recently.

Thomas Partey is also back in the squad after missing the last international break due to a muscle injury. He missed matches against Central African Republic and Liberia but has returned to training and is expected to play for his club against Manchester City this weekend.

However, notable omissions from the squad include Andre Ayew, Baba Iddrisu, and Abdul Baba Rahman, who were part of the last team.

Ghana will face Mexico at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on October 14, followed by a match against the United States of America on October 17, 2023, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Hughton aims to use these two friendlies as part of the preparation for the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers in November and the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
