Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, a former prominent member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has issued a warning to the party’s leadership.
He cautioned that he would confront them if they attempt to undermine his contributions to the party following his resignation.
Mr. Kyerematen stressed his commitment to the party’s values and traditions but emphasized that he won’t remain passive in the face of wrongdoing within the party.
He highlighted his distinguished professional record, both locally and internationally, and expressed his readiness to challenge any attempts to discredit him.
In an interview, Alan Kyerematen stated, “I was part of the founding members of the party. I have paid my dues to the party, and I believe in the traditions and values of the party. But if things are going wrong, I can only commit to remaining calm for a certain time. But when it is going to jeopardize the very existence of our party, which is where we have got to now, I will not stay and countenance that.”
He further vowed to run as an independent candidate in the 2024 elections, emphasizing the importance of being elected on one’s own merits rather than relying solely on a political party.
Alan Kyerematen criticized the current political system’s tendency toward an executive-presidential model and stressed the need for candidates to represent the true ideals of their tradition.
