Residents Of Inchaban Nkwanta Grapple With Poor Road Network
Roads are one of the most demanded infrastructures by Ghanaian peri-urban including Sekondi- Takoradi to improve and increase their connectivity and mobility to urban centres and rural areas.
In the case of residents of Inchaban Nkwanta, and its adjoining communities, there is no hope in seeing their detoritated road network being fixed.
They recounted the numerous times, they embarked on demonstrations over the road yet, the authorities did nothing about it.
Interestingly, each passing day brings further evidence of the dire state of the roads and the urgent need for intervention, especially after heavy rainfall, as the roadways and drainage systems become increasingly exposed.
The road’s deterioration has reached a point where drivers are met with considerable difficulty, prompting some to avoid the area altogether.
For those willing to brave the conditions, exorbitant fares are often demanded to compensate for the risks posed to their vehicles.
Some frustrated residents spoke to Beach News about the dangers posed by the road.
” This community lacks infrastructure like a good road network. The road becomes very difficult to ply anyway. Some companies also use this same road. The road from Mpintsin Junction to Manso and its adjoining communities is in a dilapidated state which needs urgent attention. We’ve staged a lot of demonstrations but to no avail. ”
” We have voted for years, and it seems we are not part of Ghana. Our Member of Parliament has done nothing to see to it that the road is fixed. The road has been this bad for years. We want this road constructed. “
Auntie Esi, a fish seller said, ” I ply my trade on this road, The state of the road is so bad that it becomes a headache for us.
No driver is willing to use the road because of its nature, especially when I’m going to do business in the next community. This affects my business. So I’m pleading with Authorities to come and construct the road because we are suffering “
