Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, the former Trade Minister who narrowly missed securing the flagbearer position in the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), is scheduled to announce his political future on Monday, September 25, 2023, during an upcoming press conference.
Despite finishing third in the initial round of the NPP’s flagbearer selection, which reduced the candidate pool from ten to five contenders, Mr. Kyerematen chose to withdraw from the November 4 congress.
He cited bias on the part of the party’s leadership in favor of a specific candidate.
Amid widespread speculation, there is anticipation that Mr. Kyerematen might decide to part ways with the party and pursue the presidency as an independent candidate.
However, the uncertainty surrounding his next move will be clarified later today when he discloses his future intentions.
There is also the possibility that he may choose to continue his political journey within the party, potentially offering his support to one of the remaining four candidates competing for the coveted flagbearer position. Alternatively, he may embark on his political ambitions independently.
