The body of Nigerian Afrobeats star MohBad has been exhumed, according to police in the city of Lagos.
The 27-year-old singer, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Aloba, died on Tuesday, September 12, in a hospital in Lagos.
His fans have called for an investigation because the exact circumstances of his death have not been made public.
“Exhumation completed. Autopsy to commence,” Lagos state police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin tweeted.
Since the musician’s passing, there have been protests in many southern Nigerian cities, as well as an outpouring of grief and demands for answers. Social media is trending with the hashtag #justiceformohbad.
The late singer was well-known for his baritone voice and streetwise, occasionally lewd, lyrics.
